Position Summary
The role of SME will enable a qualified candidate to manage technical skill areas across all lines of business for our customers.  In managing these technical areas, the SME will provide guidance for existing staff in the Centre Assist and ITC departments.  The objective is to help develop best practices and standards, onboarding/offboarding processes, developing toolsets, optimizing customer environments and providing issue escalation for Centre Assist.  
The BDR SME will be focusing on backup/restore and disaster recovery services and solutions for Centre customers. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Be technical owner of all aspects of backup and disaster recovery solutions, vendors and systems.
  • Maintain a pulse on industry standards and changes to keep Centre solutions relevant
  • Drive best practices and industry standards into Centre process and customer environments
  • Collaborate with all Centre lines of business to ensure compliance and direction for standards
  • Comply with all Centre process and maintain Centre’s successful posture for SOC2 Type II compliance
  • Must possess both the technical and leadership skills to work with Executive level personnel
  • Solve customer issues by leveraging Problem Management and resolution of issues in a timely manner
  • Prioritize tasks and meet deadlines
  • Excellent troubleshooting and written/verbal communication skills to communicate progress and status of activities to customer Executives and points of contact.
  • Must be a team player with outstanding customer service skills
  • The ability to communicate and explain technology to non-technical individuals
  • Strong IT documentation skills
 

Education/Experience/Certifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred
  • 5+ years of  hands-on IT experience
  • Certifications – Zerto (any), Veeam (any), Azure AZ-305 (preferred), AZ-104 (preferred)
  • Backup / DR strategies (Architect, Implementation and Administration)
    • Advanced troubleshooting, architect and implementation of Veeam [required]
    • Working knowledge of Cohesity [preferred]
    • Advanced troubleshooting, architect and implementation of Zerto [required]
    • Working knowledge of Azure Site Recovery (ASR) [preferred]
    • Working knowledge of Microsoft 365 backup solutions such as KeepIT [required]
  • Microsoft Technologies (Architect, Implementations, Migrations)
  • Advanced experience with troubleshooting and maintaining Windows 10/11
  • Advanced experience with troubleshooting and maintaining Windows Server 2016/2019/2022+
  • Microsoft Windows Administration tools (AD Users and Computers, DHCP, DNS, Group Policy, Sites and Services, etc.)
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Hyper-V
  • Working knowledge of VMware ESXi Server
  • Systems upgrades including security patch management
  • Monitoring of system utilization and application performance using tools such as LogicMonitor or SolarWinds
  • Understanding of network infrastructures and troubleshooting various networking protocols including but not limited to TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, etc.
  • Experience with various Enterprise level server hardware such as but not limited to Dell and HPE
  • Exposure to Storage solutions such as Synology, Pure, Dell PowerVault, and HPE Nimble

Work Environment and Physical Demands

  • Work primarily in a climate-controlled environment with minimal safety/health hazard potential.
  • Working from office environment in a hybrid workforce schedule
  • Occasional lifting (up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds) may be required.

  • The noise level in the work environment is moderate.
  • Infrequent local travel is required.
